I programmed my bcd996p2, both conventional and trunked systems, with Freescan and it's working just fine. I downloaded the programming from the scanner onto the database on ProScan. I'm getting a bcd325p2. Can I now upload that programming onto the new scanner? Thanks

Ok thanks. In that case should be a lot easier than I thought. When I first ordered the 325 I was kind of put off by some reviewers who said it was difficult to program. Thanks again.

The BCD325P2 is the handheld version of the BCD996P2 base/mobile. They are essentially the same scanner and program the same way. The only differences are the display and battery settings on the BCD325P2.

I didn't know that when I ordered it, but that's certainly good news. Kind of stumbled into it. Hopefully now all I'll have to do to program it is to upload the data base in ProScan ( from the 996) to it. Thanks

That's pretty well all you'll have to do and then you'll be flying. Enjoy the new scanner!

Just got my new scanner, bcd325p2, and am quite befuddled. Did get it programmed but am having trouble figuring out how to control the volume. Read something about scroll control but haven't the foggiest about what it is or where it is. Looked in the user guide but couldn't find any specific references. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Thanks again. Took me a while to navigate around the bcd996p2 and I guess I'll have to go through another learning session or two with this one.

You will definitely need to checkout the Easier to Read BCD325P2 Digital Scanner Manual if you haven’t already discovered it! I have found it to be very concise and extremely helpful for this particular scanner! BTW, ProScan is an excellent choice, but believe it or not, after a while I got comfortable enough to just tweak this unit by hand when I didn’t want to bring out and power up the laptop. The BCD325P2 is actually not that difficult IMHO, just not the most intuitive device when compared to the number of features it supports. So, the more you use it, the more it will grow on you and it’ll eventually become second nature.

@jasferriter Depending on exactly how you use it, you’ll become very used to reaching for that “multifunction” knob! I also like that I could get a quick peek at the remaining battery voltage and you could also see several P25 stats to include the error rate (I just know it by feel and don’t have my handheld in front of me, but if I recall it’s press function -> click knob -> press function again -> click knob again to do so).

I’d also recommend taking a look at the Easier to Read BCD325P2 Digital Scanner Manual to just get a feel as to what you could do with the “FUNC” button as it’s pretty useful all around. I particularly like being able to easily switch modulation, e.g. FM to NFM. Same with remembering how easy it is to turn on the backlight. You could also use it to easily jump to NOAA Weather and more!
