The computer is not seeing the scanner? Reran the drivers, reset computer, tried another USB port. Shows cannot located .com9

Look at the pic I'm posting, and what I tried to circle just click on it, and it will find the right port for it.

computer will not see com port 9. I have reinstalled the software 4 times and rest computer. Says it cannot find driver.

The computer will not see the scanner, only the port it's hooked to.
Look where I have in the pic, it's in the device manager under ports, that is what you have to set Win500 to.

Please Ernie, don't get angry, I gotta ask - is the scanner powered up? And is the programming plug which looks like a 3.5mm stereo plug, plugged in to the upper 3.5mm port and not the headphone port. Also, don't use the "stereo" to "monaural" adapter that came with the programming cable.

The scanner is on... the cable is plugged into the pc/if. The computer beeps when you plug it in as it should see the scanner and then the error mssg comes on.
I am working with a couple of handicaps...I have PTSD and Traumatic head injury. I was in a explosion and my memory is about 5 minutes then I have to go back and read again.
Working on stuff like this gives me a mental workout.
There are no bad questions in my case.

When i go to configuration and click find 500/600 serial port it shows no serial port found and I cannot find the ports configuration section.

Barry came down yesterday and worked on it for approx 1 hour without complete results. He took the radio home for a nite of "Frustration".
Barry's a good guy, we had a lot in common. I did learn a few things (buy Uniden) .We used both of our cables, but same problem with programing. Hope he doesn't shoot it!

Ernie, Ronnie, I think we have a programmed scanner! Ernie's cable was bad and will have to be exchanged for a good one.
I first programmed it for the sites I can receive in my area and verified operation. I then dumped that and programmed it for North Augusta/Augusta. I can only receive conventional frequencies now and will test it when I get to Ernie's this morning.
