If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey, i have a TK-8160 and i recently had it programmed. It has FleetSync PTT ID set up to Transmit the Data Packet Before and After the transmission. (i only want it to transmit the data packet before the transmission)

Also, Channel 1 or my DISPATCH Frequency was programmed incorrectly and needs to be changed. It was programmed as a Repeater channel with a Input and Output frequency. (i need it to be simplex) Im sending this radio to a radio shop in Aurora, Colorado. They program mostly Motorola radios and offered to program this radio. They have no experience in programming FleetSync (and i was told will not attempt to program Fleetsync with out instructions).

When they go to re-program the radio all im having them do is switch my DISPATCH frequency to simplex. But it still needs to have the FleetSync PTT ID on it. Can they make the frequency change without changing any of the FleetSync settings? If not, Can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to program FleetSync PTT ID with a Fleet ID of 106 and a ID of 1639, so i can give them instruction on how to program correctly?

If you can help, email me at zlegleiter@cox.net or just add a comment here on the thread.

Thanks in advance!

Yes you can change the transmit frequency and tone without changing your fleetsync settings. You can also change your settings and have it only ID at the beginning of transmission.

The shop should be able to correct the freq problem (I hope) and put you on a simplex.

It sounds like the fleetsync fleet and id are correct. If not, going to the fleetsync menu, it will be staring at you on the first tab and is easy to correct.

To select how the fleetsync id is sent, you need to highlight the channel that it is to be sent on, then click on the bottom of the screen "channel edit". In the channel edit window, you can enable ptt id and set the transmit parameter. The 3 choices are BOT (begining of transmission), EOT (end of transmission), or BOTH.

FleetSync ID Instructions

Can you, (code3cowboy) or someone... give me instructions to give to the Radio Shop on how to program the radio to only Transmit the Data packet Before the Transmission? Again, Like i said, they are a Motorola Shop and they have never programed FleetSync before and they need instructions on how to program it... And i have no idea on how to do it.

Thanks again for the help!
