I bought this antenna from radio shack 20-176 would this cable be best for it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Track=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:middle:us
Please take a look thank you rob.

Yes, that cable will work. Is it the "best"? No, there are better cables available, such as Times Microwave LMR-400. Even good quality RG-6 coax might be a little better, but you may not notice much difference between it and the cable you asked about. A lot of factors come into play affecting how much better it would be, such as the frequencies you will be monitoring, and your distance from the station, elevation, transmitted signal strength, etc.

You can purchase RG6 in different lengths from Wally World for a little less money, it comes with "F" connectors on it. Besides little jumpers I believe they carry it in 25 to 100 ft lengths, with snap and seal type connectors...

RG8-X is NOT a good idea above 30MHz or so, fine for HF but too lossy for VHF/UHF work. Times Microwave LMR400 or Belden 9913 is pretty much "standard of the industry" for our applications.
