As this is a software question, I will have it moved....
Scan Control doesn't have the ability to connect to the database, however ProScan does - and it works with all your scanners. If you find that you need to do a lot of downloading, and want remote support, then ProScan fills the bill. I'd register it - Bob (ProScan author) is constantly working on improvements; it kinda seems like Ken (Scan Control) is dragging his feet a bit, and trying to take on too much in a single release.
The Scannersoft website has a video, if memory serves, on how to use the Data Grabber (which is the copy/paste tool). In brief, to use the Data Grabber, you must start at the upper left corner of the title to a particular table (yes, inside the titles), then drag to the lowest right corner **1 row below where you wish to stop copying** and copy to the clipboard(yes, that's peculiar - I agree, but the description is correct). You then bring up the Scan Control edit form, place the cursor in the alpha text area, which should un-grey the Grabber selection. Then Paste (I'm doing this from memory, as I can't install anything on my machine at work. The video will confirm what I'm saying). Here's the link to the page with the videos

For example if we look at this entry

Under Zone B2, if I wanted all the talkgroups up to the last Criminal Investigations talkgroup, I would start by putting my cursor in the upper left next to 'DEC' and drag all the way down to the right corner, making sure that the 'Department of Human Services' talkgroup was also highlighted. When I paste, the Human services talkgroup and description should not be copied, but I should get all 4 of the Criminal Investigations talkgroups (it sounds more complicated than it is, really)
To me, it's a bit clumsy, but it does work. We did try to get Ken to put in the RR Import function but he didn't want to do it. A shame, really.
