A few posts in the Kentucky Forum and some emails from rr.commers have identified a few incorrect entries for KSP Posts in the Central part of Kentucky... Incorrect entries have been confirmed as such and then changed.... it seems there are some expired/terminated FCC entries among them as well.... I am leaving the existing alfa tags as they are (ie: KSP 12 (B)); changed entries that have been confirmed look like this: KSP 12-B....
Your help in this is crucial to this effort: if you have a digital capable scanner please load as many of the freqs you can receive from your area and listen to them.... then submit corrected information..... one of the confounding entries pointed out was an incorrect entry listed under KSP Frankfort but actually the B Channel for KSP Columbia.... another included one for KSP Frankfort that was listed as KSP Dry Ridge.... So, ears across Kentucky are the solution here.... let me know what you find and we'll get this thing fixed, too...
Happy New Year everyone.... be careful in this wx.... and Happy Scanning!!!

I was under the impression that due to the limited number of frequencies, some posts may use frequencies that are also used by other posts. In other words perhaps frequency xxx.zzzz may be post 12's A channel and also post 16's B channel.

Is that incorrect?

One of the radio gurus tried to explain it to me before I fully understood what I was hearing... Yes, there is a limited number of freqs so one Post's B could be another Post's A... but there are towers located in one Post's territory that have another Post's transmitter on them--the Danville Tower is the example that was explained to me (453.65000 is a KSP 15 B Channel but listed within KSP Frankfort and apparently not used within Post 12). Those are some of the freqs that are causing the confusion.... also some freqs that just don't exist in a certain Post area and some freqs that are in use currently that aren't in the data base for the correct Post due to a number of reasons...

It'd would be nice if KSP was to be a little more "open" about their system and share what's what and where it is. However, I do understand their situation. Several years ago, someone got into their system and was calling in false reports of troopers needing help. After that, they got a lot more reluctant to give out information.

Chalk another one up for irresponsible people who cause others to have things more difficult.

One other thing that would be *very* useful for the KSP listings:

Those of you who have the capability of decoding NAC codes (either through software to do so, or with a GRE PSR-500 or PSR-600)...if you find NACs for KSP frequencies, please post them in the updates! (Among other things, this helps when multiple frequencies are used by the same posts.)

And some are not digital but in use at Prisons or other State Facilities.
453.3875 is listed as KSP, but is in use in I believe is LaGrange analog with a PL, but have not had time to listen or been in range for listening lately. It is definitely a prison, and LaGrange is the best choice based on my location.

EDITED:
Thanx Al....You are correct, I'll change it..... but having folks who can put ear-on-the-freq to confirm is the ultimate.... have already been able to modify a number of KSP Posts thanx to emails from steadfast rr.commers... Again, all help is appreciated!

Also post 2 keeps switching to tac3, and it's not any channels listed here.

I have an unconfirmed freq for statewide tac 3 as 158.7375 / PL 156.7 TAC channels are usually used when units are close to each other because I believe they are low power.

Nice icon Mastr.... kinda miss seeing signs like that!

The freq spooney mentions, 158.73750, is one of the natioanl interop freqs.....These are listed under the KYMAI page in the data base..... this is a continuing effort by KWIEC,KSP, KYOHS to give Kentucky the best interop program possible given the varied terrain and local equipment availablity..... this appears to be a statewide license for VCALL thru VTAC 4 and UCALL thru UTAC 3 for use by first responders...

I'll ask once more, Has anyone ever heard KSP use encryption?

No I have not. they are digital and that gives some measure of privacy, but as more and more digital scanners come on the scene, who knows. Not even sure if it was part of the original plans. The press release for when they switched to ASTRO is on the Internet.

Tac 3 is 453.300 P25 simplex, has been since they got the Astro Spectras
you will have to be very close to hear them when they switch over since it is simplex
