I am new to trunktracking,my old scanner was a BC700A,my neqw one is a BC785D.I know how to program the frequencies, but get lost with the trunks.can anyone help me?
Join the club. I just got a BC796. I think once you get the concept of trunking it's easier to understand. Check out some of the information here regarding "trunking". It's a little bit of a different concept than the old "transmit and receive on one channel" of days past. I know the feeling. My last scanner was (I still have it too!) a Pro-2004!
One thing I have found is that connecting the scanner to the computer makes things a LOT easier (I emphasize a LOT). Programming in all those talkgroups, etc on the keypad would drive me (to quote someone else here) nucking futs. Plus the database features add a lot more functionality to the scanner and makes using it a lot more fun (not to mention easier).
Check out some of the information on trunking that's around. Some of it's pretty technical (and a sure cure for insominia), but it's a pretty straight forward concept once you get by the techno garble. If you need any help, I can give you my email and we can help you get up to speed. One newbie to another (LOL).
