Hey guys need some help here please.

So I’ve been following Wayne’s P25 System for a few months now.

Scanner: 396xt

I have everything setup and programmed correctly.

Was running ID SCAN.

I have the 2 main TG IDS for police, their dispatch and info programmed and I’m hearing them fine.

Fire, same thing. All good there.

EMS no good. Are we sure that “12555” is their dispatch?

Can someone else who monitors that system, or know someone inside help me with this please? I have not heard a single transmission from TG “12555” supposedly the EMS dispatch. No pager tests, dispatches, nothing.

I’m currently going to run ID SEARCH to see what I get.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

What type of scanner are you using? If its a 436 or 536 make sure service type is on for ems

Good catch. Should’ve added that.

It’s a 396xt.

Shouldn’t matter though right? This is a Phase 1 System.

I'm hearing alot of radio traffic on EMS Ops1A. There was an accident on Rt 23 this Morning around 10 o'clock by Wayne Lincoln Mercury. I also heard a page out on 12555 for another assignment. Then they were reaching out to Franklin Lakes for Mutual Aid as I guss no one responded to the page.
The way the squad operates is kind of weird to me because I guess they use on duty crew's so there is not alot of paging and they just conduct operations on 3001 (EMS Ops 1A)
I hope this helps. I'm using a uniden BCD996P2 to monitor the system.

That would explain ALOT!!

Thanks for replying. Still trying to figure them out. I would’ve heard that probably had I been out on the road.

When I ran ID search I did hear some activity on 3001.

Must be on-duty(at the corps) crew.

Thanks. I’m back on ID SCAN. But perhaps at this point I’ll play around with the EMS TG’s.

I as well heard some activity on 3001.

Actually it was a no-tone dispatch. Looks I’ll add that and see what their deal is what ems(dispatching/ops).

They have 10 talk groups for EMS... I have heard traffic on other Talkgroups during special events like parades and 4th of July. If you ever figure out what they use all ten TGs for let me know! Thanks !

WFAS has 1 or 2 duty crews scheduled every day. That's why you don't hear them page out unless they need a second ambulance or the rescue.

Yeah they have quite a lot.

Compared to most towns, in general the way Wayne does things is different.

I’m gonna probably setup some separate QK’s JUST for Fire(tac)

And EMS I’ll put all the Ops channels in.

I’ll try to investigate what’s going on with them.

I still have not heard a single dispatch on 12555. But I’m glad that’s the confirmed TG, so that’s good news for me.

I heard some activity today and last week very briefly on 3001(Ops1).

But, here’s the thing, unlike multiple Fire companies, EMS(Wayne memorial) is the lone Building. How many EMS TG’s do you need??

Unless they use them like a “Fireground.” But I’d highly doubt it. Not sure though.

As for events, I can see that. But unless its for actual on-scene Tac, or maybe just for planning etc, I wouldn’t expect to hear it much.

So I’m gonna see if I can get another scanner so I can monitor that solely.

But being the nice weather(summer coming up), activity is going to be hot, so we’ll see. I’ll be listening.

Thanks for the confirmation. Makes sense for sure.

I’ll be listening and hoping to hear something.

Guys at this point I’ve went ahead and programmed all fire/ems TG’s.

See what we get!

Guys at this point I think I have it figured out.

I was able to take a look at some Unitrunker logs today...

“12555” is their tone out. Moreso than that, the tone outs can happen on a multitude of 125xx channels. Basically forget listening to those.

The logs showed the most activity on “3001” their “unofficial” dispatch(Ops1a).

I will now clean my QK’s up, and put that as my “dispatch” and see what we get.

Harris systems create a talkgroup when patching. Wondering if these 12xxx are from that when they Dispatch.

Idk. Idk what they’d be patching to/from?

I can say even after a few short hours activity has been picking up on Ops 1a.

Will continue to update and see what I get tomorrow(full day of listening).

I would think the members have pagers, especially when
It comes to second or third crews when they get busy. What does the FD page out on? Maybe EMS uses that also.

That’s a good thought.

I don’t remember if it was you or not who said it, but apparently they have on-duty crews. Many(if not all other local towns) are all volunteer. At least where I live and close neighboring towns.

Let’s say first crew is on a call, they might have a pager. Or they may simply have radios and hear the tones off of that.

Apparently they do tone though, meaning at some point people have to come to the building, and they use tone-outs.

Fire is different. Because they’re analog, all their dispatching and talking(that I’ve heard) is on the fire dispatch. Fire is simpler so it seems.

Alright more to add.

So I was listening to ham, and then saw the Wayne FAS Rig pass by responding to a call lights and sirens.

I flipped and held on Ems Ops 1a. Heard their “arrived on scene.”

Moments before listening to the Ham channel, I was scanning and heard nothing on 12555. Confirming(pretty surely) it is in fact an on-duty crew, and they simply were dispatched non-tone.

Figuring it out....

EMS is dispatched on over 30 talk groups starting with 12550 and i forget the ending one, each dispatch will be on the next talk group, so if you hearing a dispatch on 12550 the 2nd request or next call will be on 12551 next on 12552 next on 12553 and so on and so on. I never even bothered to program all these in as it was just easier to leave the scanner on search mode. Whoever put these 125xx series talk groups in the database as EMS operations would be incorrect.
