Thanks. Too bad they're not on the air.

Off topic question, but does anyone know a radio shop in/near Cobb that will put 3/4" antenna mount holes in a vehicle?

Hey, how about that great interoperability using SouthernStink or Nextel! Works great with the P25 systems, doesn't it?
BG..

Just saw Sprint's plan for Nextel. If they follow through, it makes you wonder what's gonna happen with all the PS groups that use it like a two way radio. Can tell you that typical cellular services don't lend themselves well to Push-to-talk services even with the new enhancements to them.

Here's the latest comment from them,
"Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) plans to use its network modernization project to improve the in-building coverage of its 1900 MHz CDMA spectrum, migrate iDEN customers to CDMA, and give it the flexibility to deploy a range of technologies, including LTE, according to a senior executive.

Actually they do have full interoperability through many systems in metro Atlanta including p-25. They just have DOT patch their Nextel group talk with whatever p-25 talk group they need to use on whatever system they need.
Ive seen this done at UGA football games with GEMA's interop van where 800 systems are patched with VHF and Nextels all into one seamless channel. Ive also seen Nextels patched into the old Gwinnett system on their SIS talk groups.
Also HERO has talk groups on the Dekalb and Atlanta system which arent used but they are there.

Georgia DOT Freqs

Reading this thread it is talking about GDOT Hero trucks, which I think are mostly in the Atlanta area. After the Christmas snow storm here in North Ga, I was trying to find the freqs the snow plows/salt trucks might be using. Radio Reference doesn't show them. Are they also on Southernlinc?

BTW: Picked up the Tenn real good on VHF repeater but not Georgia.

Thanks

The TG's that Atlanta and DeKalb have are for the officers on a scene to call HERO dispatch. This way they can ascertain the ETA of a HERO on scene. B98.5% of the time, the appropriate jurisdiction simply calls the HERO dispatch and has a unit enroute.
