Wasn't to bad last night. Have something around my place producing power surge that wipes out my radio. Only for a few seconds but annoying. Happens about every 30 seconds. Not coming from my place.

RNZ signal improving on 7425, musical variety show. Signal on 9700 weaker with increasing noise. I'm getting wide noise from about 9600 to >10000 here. Anyone else been having noise in the 9 MHz bands at night lately?

Minor geomagnetic storm conditions this morning due to coronary hole streaming, expected through the weekend. Daylight conditions here right now are noisy with deep fading on all bands. 11 meter skip is sporadic, WWCR 13845 is usually the daytime powerhouse here; barely S-5 at best, not really listenable. 23212.

RNZ on 7425 smoothed out for some nice listening until FC this morning. Not expecting much good during the day today, but hopefully something will shake loose tonight.

Conditions were pretty bad yesterday evening; could barely pick up WWCR. Woke up about 1a.m. local to hear WRMI 5950 and 5850 coming in clearly, not a common occurrence for me. This morning at daybreak, RNZ 7425 has classical piano music moving into Phase Dance by Pat Metheny, 34343.

Hopefully the noise floor will continue to improve today.

Great catches! Gene Scott and the Overcomer have been on the air forever, it seems.

Back when Gene was on live, he'd alternate between scholarly, comedic, and frustrating.
He had some interesting lectures on some of the Pseudepigrapha that I enjoyed, but sometimes he'd intentionally agitate listeners. If he wanted some money to come in, he'd go on a short rant, then start playing big band music... all day long, with brief injections of, "You want to hear the teaching? Get on the phone!"

R. G. was on live at times back then, too. What a character. If it weren't so obviously mental illness, you might be tempted to think it was some weird performance art or satire. You'd think that Bill Clinton drove himself down to Walterboro and personally whooped Stair's butt the way he would cry and wail sometimes. Of course, Bill had been sent by Queen Elizabeth and the Bilderbergers.

Thankfully, auntie Beeb and CSM were easily avaliable for a dose of simple information after wading through the hatred and lunacy that filled the waves back then.

Good stuff @EAFrizzle. These broadcasts contained some wild material!

I believe Brother Stair was behind a ship board shortwave broadcast station that never got off the ground. Allan Weiner was involved also and it was to operate under a license from a nation in Central America, IIRC. I'll have to find the issue of Pop Comm that told the story.

I just came across a podcast about Allan and WBCQ yesterday.

Back in the 90s, WWCR stood for "Wild West Crazy Radio". Not only was some of the content out there, some of the scheduling was insane. Pete Peters right before "Unshackled".

Friday nights at midnight Central was the best time for WWCR. The air raid sirens and "LIGHTS OUT!" of Bill Cooper's The Hour Of The Time.

The Overcomer isn't quite gone yet. They're on WTWW 24 hrs now, and there's announcements telling how to support the station or the Overcomer ministry separately. Maybe a last-ditch effort for either one or both.

That is not a good sign for WTWW. I thought they used to carry programming from other religious groups. Great trivia on WWCR!

Allan Weiner is a legend. I had just gotten into the hobby maybe a year before his shipboard Radio New York International broadcasts in 1987, but was only a kid then and still feeling my way around the dial blindly, in addition to having very basic equipment. Wish I could have caught those broadcasts, which were right in my own backyard so to speak.

Just a couple of weeks ago I heard a variety of other preacher along with Overcomer on WTWW.

I did some research on Stair a couple of years back. It seems there was the typical split in the community; some wanted to move forward, some wanted to stay only with brother Stair's utterances, decryption each other, etc. Similar situation with World's Last Chance and the folks behind WMLK 9275.

Up camping north of Duluth. HF bands were pretty good starting at 7 pm. Using a comet W100RX, was picking up allot of stations from 3 through 10 MHz. Being next to Lake Superior think helped. I use this antenna on my scanners but tried it a few camping trips ago and found it does fairly well on HF.
