Harris RF-5000 series like the RF-5010, RF-5022 and the PRC-138 manpack version. They have amazing syllibic squelch but I don't know if they all scan. I know later firmware versions of the PRC-138 will scan.

Two things:

1. (Probably out of my price range) Which Harris radios?

2. If you own an IC-7100, could you give the VSC a try and report back?

The Harris RF-590, AKA the R-2368. Not really meant for the average radio fan, but a nice radio.

Alinco DX-R8 HF Receiver will do what you are looking for. Fully PC controllable with my DriveR8 program which also includes Scheduled Tuning and Sound Recording. Also check out the SR8 and SR9. These are transceivers but have the same DX-R8 receiver circuitry and functions.
