Hello everyone, I was told that Hickman County Sheriff's dept. was using TURBO, ok. I thought that a digital scanner could not decode/receive this format. I was told by a hickman county official yesterday that they have tured off their encryption, and that county so personnel were buying and using digital scanners in their cars and for personal use. My question is, is my understanding of TURBO wrong, or are they really using TURBO?

I am not hearing any kind of signal on a analog scanner of the listed 460.300mhz on the database, it seems like if they were using P25 I would be hearing annoying sounds on a analog scanner, right?

I have seen one of the deputies portables and they are motorola trbo model XPR6550 and as far as the frequency they are using I know it is not 460.300 because I have scan that frequency since they went to the new radios and have not heard anything. I have tried to get the frequency but no luck.

MOTO Trbo is not encryption. If they were running encryption, whether they turn it on or off you still can not decode Trbo. It is a digital format none of the scanner manufacturers have decided to try and crack. It will basically sound like a P25 frequency on an analog scanner. So we are still in limbo for any TRBO decoding.

That's what I thought, so that person was either telling me that to through me off, or some of their personnel really don't know their radio system if they are buying digital scanners and thinking they will be able to hear them selfs.

Also I was told that they were using the school system frequency as well as their old frequency. I Don't know what their school system freq is.

The deputy I know also works part time with the Centerville Police Dept. and he said he can switch channels on the trbo and he can talk analog to the Centerville Police Dept. So I guest you can talk trbo digital or just plain analog like most radios are.

I checked the school system frequencies and they have a trbo emission designator just like the Sheriff dept has. I listen to several frequencies and they sound like data burst constantly.

Ok, I am using a Pro-197 scanner. Could I get any suggestions on how to set it up to hear tubo?
I will try to install linux on my laptop, which am currently running win xp. Also I noticed two downloads on that link you posted, which program should I download and installed?

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have enter all school frequencies and I do hear the school buses but no law enforcement on any of the 20 to 25 frequencies that are list for Hickman Co. school.

I heard a lot of digital noise on that one also and on 463.9125 but it is constant noise for the most part with a little break then noise again, sounds like maybe data burst.

MDT? May also be an AVL that helps them keep up with the buses.

Part of their homeland security district. Hope they included gateways for interop with their Nashville area neighbors.

My error. Hickman is not part of District 7. They are attached to District 8. They are adjacent to 7.
