I have a BC-296D that is about 5 years old. The original Uniden battery pack is finally showing its age and not holding a charge. I want to replace the original 1500 mAh model BP-250 battery pack with something in the 2200 - 2400 mAh range. Although I would prefer a battery pack that can be charged in the radio I would appreciate any recomendations on replacement options.

Thank you.

Thanks to both of you on the quick replies. Do these battery packs charge in the radio as the original one did? How long does it need to initially charge and how long for subsequebt charges?

yes it charges in the scanner... it may take a few hours longer though as its a much larger battery rating.

i just charge it overnight. they are nimh (not ni-cad) so you dont have to worry about memory effects of a short charge
