Hello all,
I recently bought a Uniden Home Patrol with the newest software, and HPD / HCCO / HCSO frequencies loaded in it. I live and work within a few miles of one of the dispatch centers, so I think it's interesting to hear what's going on around me. Found out about a robbery right across the street last week! Helped me alert others in the office to be careful when walking out to their cars for lunch.
Right now I have a 16" Laird tri-band NMO mounted whip. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of whips day-to-day. I only really need that when I'm doing activities like storm chasing so that I can pick up a wider range of services. I'd much rather use one of those low-profile Phantom style antennas around town.
I'm new to radio, and still learning. I have one (maybe two if necessary) nmo mounts available. Here's what I'd like to do:
- AROUND TOWN: Low-Profile / Phantom for HPD, HCCO, HCSO only
- WHEN TRAVELING: Tri-Band Whip w/ GPS on the HD1 for flexibility over a large area
Is there a dual band phantom antenna applicable to those three departments that I can use when I'm just around town, and then switch to the whip when I travel and use GPS with the HD1? I believe they're all on TxWARN P25.
