On the new 996P2 I can display the P25 error rates by tapping the function knob then pressing the volume knob. But how do you change the mode from Auto to Default? Is there a hidden menu? Im looking for a way to fix a problem with this radio's ability to scan Phase 2 audio and I'm noticing some odd things with the data decode thresholds. Could finding this menu be the same trick as the 996XT?

If you power off the scanner then repower it on while pressing hold key
in the menu under settings, it will show P25 Threshold.
This is the only hidden adj. I have found.
The P25 adjust mode and adjust level are not there, I believe they are combined into this setting?

When I do this with my 996XT it boots with some funny screen colors, but does nothing but booting back to where it was. No menu, no nothing. Is this normal?

The hidden option

I know this is an older thread, but hopefully this helps people who are still looking, like I was. It looks like it's a setting for the scanner as a whole, not sure if it can be changed per site or not. That isn't an issue for me, as I am using the unit in my home and not moving around with it. I know this information was kind of said before, but I thought I might help in clearing it up a bit.

P25 Threshold (996P2 only) this is a hidden setting accessible only by turning off the radio and pressing and holding the Hold/Resume button while you turn the scanner back on. The scanner will go through all the lights when starting up. The feature will be unlocked in the menu under settings, called P25 threshold.

Here is the link where I found the info, it's also a really nice and organized manual:

this does work, but when you turn the 996p2 on and off again, it reverts to auto. must be done in freescan i guess, will try this next. i read to set it to 10, seems to work better than auto.
