Hyper search on Uniden scanners?

Can the Hyper search on Uniden scanners be selected and deselected?
The manual specifies that my UBC92XLT can scan 180 steps/sec in hyper search mode, but the scanner is in no way near this search rate.
The manual says nothing more about the hyper search.
Can the hyper search be turn ON and OFF manually?

I think this is what they use to call Turbo Search... It's really nothing special. They use to say that if you used a band that had 5 Khz spacing, it would go from 100 freqs per second, to 300. Which is obvious, because you're searching a lot less freqs. But a 5 Khz step isn't very helpful in most cases if you want to catch everything.

If that's the spacing on the band, that's the spacing you use.
