I am at a loss with my TRX-1 nothing from RR has resolved my issues

I am so worried about sending my Whistler TRX-1 to Whistlergroup after I was about to be charged $1.00 to speak to a technician who probably is not a Whistler technician. This is so infuriating and this disappearing act with no warning and no support should be illegal!

I tried all the steps recommended to others with the same issue as me. Steps like getting a data-only USB cable, pressing the menu key (with batteries out and scanner off), and plugging in the USB data cable only to end up with the same nightmare screen message that will not go away whenever I put batteries in or plug in a USB cable.

The USB port and the SD Drive are not recognized and I can't get anything to work. My wife spent $600.00 on a radio that I've only had for about six months running with no issues until all these error messages showed up randomly. She is not happy, so it's unlikely I'll get a Uniden scanner to replace the dead Whistler unit anytime soon.

If anybody, anybody has a solution that works I would be forever grateful and would gladly pay for your service (only if I'm not being scammed or ripped off). I've about given up but at least will hang on by my fingernails.

TIA

If it’s actually broken (and not user error), I would not send anything to Whistler until there’s definite clarity about their status.
Uniden Repair advertises that they will repair any model scanner. I’d send it to them.

Charged a Dollar to talk to a Tech?
What phone number did you call?
When did you call?
All phones for over a month have gone unanswered.
Website gone, email not answered, phones turned off.
It is not SAD What I posted. It is sad what Whistler is doing. They act like they do not care about their customers.

Your screenshot shows you are trying to update it through the Whistler website, that is gone and not working any longer (unless things change in the new year) as @Nasby said. Look for other threads on whistler where there is a link to the software for updating, do NOT do it through EZ Scan as it will not work, that website is gone.

If someone tried to charge you a dollar to speak to a tech that was a scam, as said by @buddrousa they haven't been taking calls in months, and I've never gotten charged when I have called over the past + years.

Welcome to the forums! If your scanner receives weather, please attach your archive file so we can take a look at it. Click on Attach files and open the file. It would help to know your city, county, and state and which systems and agencies you would like to monitor.

If you look at the issue in the photos he posted it looks like updating and connecting to the computer are his issues, not programming (yet).

@4RC7K05 I suggest, if you have an adapter, taking the SD card out of the scanner and doing any upgrades or configuration programming through the computer directly. This is much faster and in my opinion better for the SD card.

Thanks for the heads up. According to the screen shot, the scanner has lost its CPU firmware.

4RC7K05, save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Turn the scanner off. Connect your scanner and computer and run the updater. Do not attempt to update the firmware again until you receive word that the Whistler site is active again if that ever happens. The Whistler site has been down for a long time. You still will not be able to update the database or EZ Scan app.

This ^^^^^ assumes they have the comport driver installed and working, if not they will not be able to get the firmware installed.

All the downloads needed are in the top sticky of the whistler thread.
