• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does anyone have a link to a pdf for the service manual of the "square" Harris Tri-Chem Charger CH-104560-26?

Thank you very much! I've learned bits and pieces of this information the hard way. I ended up with a -007 charger when what I needed was a -026. It's difficult to find just the sleeves to swap in in order to reuse the electronics. I have some NOS NiMh batteries that I'm conditioning right now but having a drop-in charger would make life easier. Even though the 100P wouldn't drop in without mods to the sleeve I can still put in just the battery.

For vehicular charging of my NiMh batteries I have a VC4000 tri-chemistry charger (CH-017231-002). I've searched up and down the net for the factory manual which appears to be MM-018439-001.

I'm particularly interested in the DIP switches which can control the following

- Dual Charge Rate: Allows
charge rate to be adjusted
through dipswitch configuration.
- Dual Trickle Rate (only for
Nickel): Allows trickle rate to
be adjusted through dipswitch
configuration.
- Ignition Sense (Dipswitch
configurable): Unit is turned
off when the ignition is
turned off, preventing vehicle
battery drain, or unit is on at
all times.

...and not so much interesting but who knows

- Repeater Control: Has an
enable/disable circuit for use
with a vehicular repeater.
The vehicular repeater is
enabled when the radio is
removed from the charger.

Howdy I just purchased my first XG-100M and I am also interested in learning the info you are sharing about the process to unlock wideband. I could not figure out how to send a PM though.
You are not going to unlock wideband.
Might be just my firmware version but programming Low Band, High Band, and UHF, I have wide or narrow. 700/800 is narrow band, no exception.
This is what is stuck in mine: XLP R06T02, DES version 2.06, AES version 5.01

Thanks for the reply. My xg100M actually has wide and enabled (no option 50), however I have been keeping an eye out for a portable and was curious about possibly doing the same to a portable if I found a nice one for cheap.

You and a lot of other people. Since the narrow banding mandate, wide band able radios are very hard to find and expensive when you do find one.
