I live in harlan cnty ky and use a uniden bc785d digital scanner for state police frequencies. i use a grove scanner beam and can get a lot of london post which uses the same frequency of harlan post. if i turn the beam perfectly i can get 98% percent of londons traffic. but i really wish not to, however if i turn the beam or use other antennas i get the scratching and un-audible traffic. . i hope that their is a tone ctss or something that i can place in scanner and eliminate the london post.. does anyone know of a free or cheap software program i can use to find tone frequencies that simple to use. I have a uniden 895xlt but on digital freq ill need to be able to hear the signal to distinquish between harlan post or london. If thier is another way or if anyone already knows the tones i would greatly appreciate it. thanks andrew stoots

We need a little help here from you. Need ot know where you are located and then we can be of much more assistance.

There is a good chance that since both areas are on the same freq than they have put into use CTCSS tones to avoid interferance.

Just let us know your location and we can help.

Also might want to check out the RR Database at the top of this page for more information on your area. May just have exactly what you need.

::Edit:: I see you have Harlan County Ky there. Didnt see that before. I'll see what I can find.

Also no need ot post in multiple forums.

155.56500 WPKG773 BM 100.0 PL Sheriff-Medical Transport of Detainees to Hospital FM

Looks like the Med transport uses a Code while the sherrif does not. Dont know if that particular radio you have there has an ATT function but if it does give it a try.

Just because its not in the database doesn't mean that they dont use one. Try posting the the Kentucky forum and see what people there have to say.

hi Stoots:
Unfortunately the KSP system is digital without tones.... I have the same problem with skip from Louisville and Northern KY in the mornings..... you might also attenuate the offending Post 11 freq.....

He is talking about using state police frequencies only from the way i read his question. KSP is using UHF digital.

I see in the data base that the Harlan Post is using460.4375 for dispatch and has two other, 460.0625 and 460.2375. It shows that London is using 453.4625.

If this is correct, then I don't see how a 453 freq is interfering with a 460 freq. what frequencies are you hearing the two station on?

Next, do you only hear London when Harlan is not talking?

The way this system works all dispatch (B) Freqs will "simulcast".... the mobiles respond and, depending upon their sector, they will trip the receiver reading the strongest signal..... usually adjoining Posts will use a Dispatch (B) freq from the neighboring post as an Alternate (A) freq....
KSP Post 10 - Harlan
460.06250 KDV623 R Cumberland - Harlan County Transmitter APCO-25
KSP Post 11 - London
460.06250 KDV599 R Mt Victory - Pulaski County Transmitter APCO-25

These transmitters will put out a strong signal I receive the Dispatch (B) freq for Post 15 KSP Columbia) which is literally two posts removed from my home (I am in Woodford County, the nearest Post 15 tx on 453.650 is two counties away in Boyle)

I live in harlan ky in the city of loyal . different pepole have said different things so to get it all in ill start over. I am using a uniden bc785d digital and a grove scanner beam. The beam is the only antenna that iam able to tune and pick up the ksp post in london. all other antennas i get alot of noise and interferance but no audio. i like the beam but if i move it any i get the bad signals. the frequency is 460.2375 and 460.3375 that i use to monitor harlan post. and i know for sure i hear it on 460.2375. I get no signal on the meter for london even when i can hear and copy 98% of thier traffic. i did look in pr database. london post drops out when the harlan post talks. also iam not aware that the bc785d does search for ctss tones. thanks andrew stoots

based on what you and unitcharlie said, i think you should try one thing. PUt the stock antenna on your scanner and add attentuation. You should be able to pick KSP up in your town without an outside antenna, I just wonder if your not receiving a lot of garbage. So try without and outside antenna, but with attenuation. If that doesn't work then try outside antenna with attenuation. If that doesn't work, I got no more ideas since your stuck with connect tones not CTCSS.

Glad to know that caputre effect knocks london off the air when harlan talks.

SORRY Stoots....
I had the wrong info up because I was distracted.... here is the correct info.... KSP Post 10 - Harlan
460.23750 KJG229 R Harlan - Harlan County Transmitter APCO-25
KSP Post 11 - London
460.23750 KDV599 R Mt Victory - Pulaski County Transmitter APCO-25

all the stuff at Mt. Victory is up high (see this map: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=37.020194&mapit=Map+It&lon=-84.394777) and will hit your antenna when it is active. Whenm I am driving around in Harlan County I frequently will pick-up Post 11 freqs from that tower....
