When I clicked on the Clear User Data I got a blank screen with no further indication of what to do next. I tried selecting the few options without result. Can someone explain in layman's terms what I need to do to make the scanner operational again? Step-by-step, please. Thank you.

You can clear user data from the settings menu in the scanner, go to Menu>Settings>Restore Options>Clear User Data.
Once this is done connect to Sentinel and download your favorites.

Check the box where it says to Display all Drives. Click Ok...(before you disconnect), Write to Scanner.

Where do I find "menu", "settings" etc.? I can't seem to get anything on the scanner screen except the "Clear User Data" instruction, and on the Sentinel page there are no such commands. When I push the "menu" button on the side of the scanner nothing happens. The scanner retains the instruction to clear the user data. Thanks for your help, but remember I am an amateur at this.

Carefully remove the SD card from the scanner and format it in your PC, once done start Sentinel and use the clear user data function, then download your favorites list to the card. Once complete return the card to the scanner.

Had the same issue with my 536HP some time ago. In the end, I had to use a new card, which I formatted with the PC and then I used Sentinel to re-program all the systems.
