Most don't really need Provoice with not being used much. Plus it's going away quickly with system upgrades.

I did not say that these cannot be monitored in some environments.
Yeah what a shock. That's because you don't understand how it does work. The 'tracking' only applies if you're holding on a specific TGID and expecting [the scanner] to follow that specific TGID. i.e. you're listening live

The TRX-1 can monitor any DMR/NXDN and record traffic from that system without issue. But hey, if you want to pay $$$ for that extra feature, then by all means go ahead.

You believe what you want to believe. I don't really care.

In South Padre / Brownsville all marine traffic I’ve listened to is analog VHF, including hourly coast guard announcements. A majority of coast guard to coast guard comms are digital though.

I use BC125AT for Marine VHF and air traffic, and SDS100 for digital.

Perhaps we can argue less about how Whistler and Uniden follow DMR trunking systems and attempt to help the OP?

Thanks again for the help! I heard all manner of traffic from my hotel balcony. Large ships waiting at anchorage for a harbor pilot, harbor pilots giving instruction, tugboats moving barges up and down the intracoastal waterway, Coast Guard 2x daily reports, coast guard boarding ships for safety inspection, and even a vessel in distress call and response.

To the OP... Perhaps you might already be aware, but there is an online AIS site that will let you see the actual location of ships all over the world, so you could "see" as well as listen.

Check out the link...
