Can someone explain to me why it is such a hassle to get the ICOM CS-R30 software? I don't mind paying for OEM software (although I think the price is rediculous) But my online search only revealed three places in which to purchase and of those three, NO ONE offers the convenience of an electronic download. The one place that I've purchased from before can't ship the "magic CD" for nearly a month. What good is that to me today? What is it made from, unicorn fur? I've found RT Systems offers their version of the CPS (which I could download immediately) but I prefer the ICOM CPS.

I realize this doesn't answer your question, but I found the RT Systems software to be far better than the Icom software. It sees the R30 as a serial port, has RR download capability (RS-30 does not) and I found it more intuitive to use.

I don't have that radio but a quick look on the Icom site, shows a free download for the software.

The free file is an update file. It does nothing unless it sees a previous version of the CS-R30 software. Rarely is OEM software free.

Icom software has always been a bit of a "pain" to get. I had to wait 7 weeks for a copy to turn up in the post once...
