How long have you had this radio? Did it ever work? Is it totally dead?

There should be a white 3 or 4 prong plug on the back with a red wire that shunts the internal AC power supply to the radio. If that is missing, the receiver won't power up. There is an optional cable with black and red wires that can hook to an external battery, even a car battery to run the radio.

The internal transformer can fail. If it does I can recommend a replacement if the ICOM repair person tells you the transformer is no longer available. The part is about $45.

These radios still command about $350 on the used market. You can probably get half that selling it broken on e-bay if it is otherwise clean and unmolested. It is a great radio and worth the investment to fix it.

I should add, check the AC primary fuse on the rear panel to see if blown.
