I have an R-75 with DSP installed that I use exclusively (with exceptionally rare occasions) for monitoring ARINC HF aeronautical communications, which are SSB mode. There are a number of R-75 SSB narrow and wide filter options for the 9 MHz and 455 kHz IF's. Universal Radio suggests that users who primarily enjoy shortwave broadcasts may wish to add both the FL103 and FL257 filters, $89.95 and $159.95, respectively, from Universal Radio. As I'm not interested in shortwave broadcasts, which as far as I know are nearly all AM mode, do I need either or both filters to improve the overall reception quality of ARINC/aircraft SSB communications? I'm not really having any problem hearing either ground or aircraft stations, other than normal weak reception on given frequencies during given times of day. I'd greatly appreciate any comments/advice anyone can offer. The filters are expensive, so I want to ensure that installing either or both will result in significant signal improvement in one or more respects.
