ICOM T7A Suddenly lost some functions. Most annoying is audio. Volume knob has little effect. However, the 2 prong plug in speaker / mike works fine. Seemed odd. I reset the radio's CPU. Some program functions now work, but no improvement with audio. And I partially disassembled and gave it a shot of air. (Maybe a 'whisker' somewhere). So, looking for suggestions.

Lack of audio could be a problem with the speaker.

Functions coming back after a reset could be due to an internal battery dying.

You might call SAR Technical Services to see if they have any ideas about possible repairs. They are an authorized Icom service center. Just keep in mind that your radio is at least 25 years old. It may not be repairable or economically feasible to repair.

Similar issue on my T7A.
Started having problems about the same time I got a new battery pack. This new pack has its own little phone type port for charging (with new wall wart charger). Maybe the radio got too much current. Altho the radio worked fine for at least 2 months with that new pack.
I bought it used several years ago. Must have been previously modified. Has wide receiver range. Could be that mod had some effect.

Posible the mod has effect, but I'm not really sure.
