In the SDS 100 ID search mode, when an ID is found and transmitting, the ID number shows but as Unknown. Is there any way to insert text in that field to identify who the ID tag is associated with?

OK, this response may get a little convoluted. I have several favorite lists programmed into the scanner. On the ID search mode the scanner will lock onto ID's from the various favorites. But they are still being identified as being in my prime favorite list which is the only one turned on in ID scan mode. I.E. when I go to ID scan i get my local system. When I change to ID scan ID's are picked up from all seven favorite lists plus my local. Which favorite list do I program these text tags. I'm assuming the ID has to be programmed also. The advantage to ID search is the speed at which the ID's are found as opposed to ID scan with all of the favorite lists opened. Here is an example. I live in county X and I have favorites for counties ABCDE and F along with county X of course. Typically only ID scanning county whille in county X. ID search mode allows me to pick up active ID's from the other counties. Can I enter a talk group ID from County A into County X and give it the name associated with county A? I know this sounds very confusing. Basically trying to go from the Unknown to Known when the ID search locks.
Regards,
JLD

Id search will see any tg not programmed into a fav list. Either take note of the system scanning at the time or I believe there is a way to append it to the systems it’s scanning. From that point you can read the scanner into sentinel and assign each unknown a text tag and then write back to the scanner. You can also id the unknowns and make a submission to radio reference database.

How do you hook up SDS100 to PC to run Proscan?

Same was as connecting to sentinel. Plug cable in, select Y for mass storage mode. Open proscan and click on Find Scanner under comm ports section.

So one of several downsides of this choice is you have to do maintenance on all 7.

It would be a better choice to have system once, in one favorites list, with department/site quick keys to break up the counties.

I seem to recall that the scanner will find a TG defined in any FL (any of your 7) but can’t swear if this is true or I am imagining it.

Is (are) the "unknown" talkgroup(s) ID'ed in the RRDB or no? If yes & they're not showing up in Sentinel then you'll need to update Sentinel's master database (assuming change isn't really recent) then append the newly ID'ed talkgroup(s) to your favorites list. If they're not listed in the RRDB and you know who the user(s) is (are) then it'd behoove you to submit a database update to get the info listed in the RRDB.

However if you insist on adding it by hand, review steps to save talkgroup ID here
