It was rumored that a VSLEP Astro Saber 800 might be able to decode Iden [which is VSLEP- now transitioning to AMBE] Nobody has ever done such a feat FYI.

It's VSELP, not "VSLEP" ... (Vector Sum Excited Linear Predictive). Someone on batlabs made the VSLEP typo and everyone keeps repeating it.

The Saber won't work with iDEN - it's just too different from Motorola's VSELP Astro format.

iDEN uses a 6 slot TDMA 16QAM modulation vs. an FDMA signal.

Well there is no logic behind a rumor like that so I would guess it was someone talking "out of their ass".
