If this doesn't qualify, please disregard. Both of those are long in the tooth. The bc125at is a fantastic nontrunking more than basic handheld that cover's milair quite well. New for around $125. I highly recommend Scannermaster. Feel free to inbox me for comment's.

My old Pro 2006 still delivers signal well. Even with a 3 ft. telescoping antenna it hears c17's at 150 NM--sometimes--, and surprisingly gets Helos 30 miles away on 123.025 Helo common.

My favorite mil air scanner is an old RS 2045. very good radio, and low band DXer as well. 35$ at a flea market. I have had 2 BC 780's, which have a good rep. , but I was not overly impressed. The remaining one seems a bit deaf now.

For me, the BC125 is an excellent scanner. It is very tough, important in a handheld. I usually do not use it for mil air, but when I have, it performed very well. There is a minor quibble on that radio, since a small slice above 380 MHZ on mil air is excluded. This has not been an issue for me.

On both the Pro 2045 and the Pro 2006, my display backlight is gone, but they work well.

Newer scanners aren't necessarily the best choice for mil air. Many people default to the BC125 or the BCT15X, which are good, but...

I have a BCT15X and while it does well... I also have an Icom R2 and an AOR AR-mini and they regularly pull in mil air signals that the BCT15X routinely misses. And yes they all use the same model antenna (3 separate antennas) all in the same general location.

Without doing a comparison...you won't know what you're missing.

I agree with p1879 on how good the PRO-2045 is on mil air. Got mine for a little bit more around $50 and the display is still lit.

I also use the BC125 when out and about. I think the only holdout frequency that still in the land mobile band over 380 is one Blue Angels frequency and they aren't here too often.

I also have a bct15.Not a bad air receiver. I was using my Icom R2 for mylocal civil air fq. It does quite well. When I turn the volume up,it distort's abit. I switched it out with a pro-137. Nice and clear, and loud enough.
