I recently tried my old BC898T discriminator tapped scanner with DSD+ on the Vanderburgh P25 simulacast system and it picks up just as good as my SDS200, gets all traffic. My Icom IC-R30 however misses almost all traffic and signal for same system. It could be that I'm just at a good location, but I encourage everyone to tap their old BC898T scanner and try it out, only downside is no trunking. Don't let those old scanners go to waste!
PS: I know that simulcast signal is modulated different and old scanners just don't have the hardware for proper reception. There are cheaper options such as rtl-sdr dongles or nooelec dongles.
