The first batches of SDS150 scanners which came out last December had an internal database dated about February of last year, so they needed an immediate update for optimal performance. Has anybody checked to see what the date is on more recently shipped radios?

To check, go to Manage Full Database > Information. dB Version will show the date of the internal database.

The SD Cards for the various scanners that use them are imaged from a file that is not updated itself very often, if ever. For this reason purchasers are always encouraged to update the database and firmware immediately upon receiving the radio. There is no reasonable way to update cards in radios already produced and packaged of course.

Firmware on purchased radios are usually at the first version that worked on that hardware. Occasionally production and parts changes dictate new firmware to address these things. Otherwise the firmware would have likely been older still.

The last time I *bought* a new database scanner was a 536 and that database was 5 or so years old and the firmware not much newer. It was purchased and manufactured well after the DMR and NXDN options were introduced but still required updated firmware to allow me to enter the keys.

Received mine 4/22. dB Version 4/19/26
Did you have any programming done for you by the seller? If so, it's likely that they updated the database at the same time. I know that Scannermaster will put the latest database on the card before shipping it; don't know about ZipScanners or Bearcat Warehouse.

No, that's the strange part. This one came from the Uniden Amazon store. Maybe they ship directly from their location vs an Amazon fulfillment center and update them before shipping. I don't know.
