This is a work-in-progress. I just put together all the hardware yesterday and the wiring is next. This unit is projected to be used in a van for a 'temporary" setup. Equipment consists of:

- CPI Chatsworth equipment metal enclosure, on wheels (with front and back removable doors)
- Three (3) UHF XTL2500's
- Two (2) VHF XTL2500's
- One (1) 800 XTL 2500
- One (1) M/A-Com 800 ProVoice
- ACU1000

This unit will have an additional shelf mounted in the rear to facilitate ground bus bar, fuse block and possibly a high amperage power supply. Also trying to get sturdy handles. I was thinking on drilling an NMO on top, any ideas

More important than the box is the protocols and training to use it.

LOL, I can figure out software and a manual...

Do you deliver UPS? :D

LOL

I don't mean the hardware/software protocols and training.

I mean the protocols and training about its USE!!!

I have seen more "interop boxes" sitting unused, or worse yet misused because as soon as the hardware was working, they considered the job "done"!

Ditto.

That box doesn't mean squat unless people know how to use it properly.

Nice, and a good idea.

I'm not sure if I'd drill the NMO right on top of the box. I'm not sure I'd want to be the guy standing there programming and making the links or patches for this thing while staring right at an antenna. Just thinking RF Safety wise.

WOW......... I've seen some other boxes before, but that one takes the cake, lol. I have to concur on the antenna mount also, I would try to figure out something besides mounting it to the top of the box also. But I think that deserves an A+++++++

Thanks for the comments...

The single NMO would be strictly for monitoring purposes, if RX application is desired. All the antennas will be drilled on the roof of the vehicle. It is pretty heavy, two-man operation to pick it up. I am trying to find some spare handles and mounting them through the internal aluminum frame for better support.

Like I mentioned before it is temporary and we already have the saved templates for the ACU, which it is a task in itself, with all the different audio levels and delayed PTT's. This unit will reside most likely in a van that will be deadlined in about two years, while our big incident vehicle is being built. This new unit will have a primary SyTech and for contingency an ICRI. After many years for our tactical deployments, we have found many flaws with the ACU.

And yes I agree with the comments of interoperability, interop boxes are like that monkey wrench in the bottom of a tool box. You see it all the time, hardly use it and when you take it out, you forget how to adjust it around the pipe!

I dunno, even for a Rx antenna, if you're feeding that into the ACU or a patch, and you're putting someone's life on the line, I'd rather have it in the roof of the van than on this box in the van. :)
