I heard the State Patrol use it when one of them was having problems with his Car to Car Digital channel.

It is a car-to-car ONLY frequency for ANY public safety group to contact eachother on. Here in Tama County we often use it to contact troopers/DNR cars. It is also available to Fire/EMS agencies as well but seems to be used mostly by law enforcement.

For some reason I think I read a document on-line from the state saying that basically anyone, who needed to get in contact with law enforcement, could have it. I thought it said something about wrecker services in particular though. I'm sure you would need permission from the state however.
