This past weekend was the CQWW SSB contest and I had a couple hours to goof around on the radio. As usual, I was 5W QRP using my wire attic dipole, about 35 feet across from here in Chicago. I had six contacts overall.
Slovenia;
Madeira Island;
Jamaica;
France;
& 2x Mexico.

All of these were 10m.
The solar numbers were not so hot but communication was certainly possible, even at very low power.
I could hear Morocco quite loud and clear on 10 and 15 meters but wasn't able to work. That would have been a new one for me.

I finally got my General ticket. I was looking back through this thread and noticed references to some of the 10 meter FM repeaters such as the one in the catskills. Does anyone know of a reference to what freqs, offset and Pl tones I need to get into any of those repeaters? Any info is always appreciated.

There are many and people will argue about the accuracy and currency of any of them. One that is frequently correct is repeaterbook.com , and it does include the KQ2H repeater in the Catskills... along with other 10M FM repeaters.

First of all, congratulations on your /AG upgrade!

There are only four 10 meter repeater pairs:

29.620 MHz, 29.640 MHz, 29.660 MHz and 29,680 MHz. The offset is -100 KHz meaning that you have to set your radio to "split" mode so that you transmit on 29.520 MHz, 29.540 MHz, 29.560 MHz and 29.580 MHz.

As far as PL tones, here is what seems to be a pretty good list: 10-Meter Repeater Directory for North America

10 meters can produce all year round if you have a good antenna and apply some power to make up for lack of prop. 3 or 4 elements up on the roof and 150 + watts will go a long way to putting some stations in the log when others are hearing nothing.

10 meters has been open off and on all summer and even now you just have to give it a little more effort and work it a little harder than the rest of the HF bands.....
