Nope.

If you had a direction finding antenna hooked up to a receiver/scanner, you could figure out the general direction.

with the way technology and the us government is going, i'm sure that all non-government radios will send out a gps tag in the future for big brother to use to track them down.

there is however an FRS/GMRS radio on the market right now that combines with a GPS unit so you can find your buddy.

I'm sure the NSA can do that, but it would probably be a little out of our price range. :) It would still take multiple listening stations though.

Some cellphones are GPS enabled, this means they are able to by located within a confidence percentage in meters when calling 9-1-1. The dispatcher must "ASK" for the GPS data by using a retransmit or rebid function to obtain phase 2 call information from the cellular provider.

Problem is many PSAP or dispatch centers have not upgraded to the phase 2 requirements. There is also the problem that some of the cellular carriers also have not fully become phase 2 compliant. The number around the country are disturbing. The FCC had mandated this be done before this. Problem is funding has slowed the upgrading.

All the new phones that are now sold have to have the GPS ability. However the user does have control over normal tranmissions to block the GPS information. However, if 911 is dialed, this overides any user setting and makes the GPS info available to the PSAP if the center requests it.
