I'm having an issue trying to update my CPU firmware on windows 10. I've tried uninstalling the drivers, reinstalling a few times and just repeatedly attempting the update but every time it says "No data recieved from the scanner. Please restart this process (Mode)." I know how to spell received btw, RS however does not... My scanner shows up properly in device manager and I am able to update the library and settings via usb yet firmware updates aren't working. Any ideas? I believe I had the same issue with this on windows 8 as well.

Try this. It worked for me.

I had the same issue. After much trial and error I finally figured it out. I first addressed the unsigned driver issued mentioned on several other threads here. That allowed me to update everything except the CPU firmware. I was getting the same error you mention above. I found the solution looking into firmware updates for the Whistler 1080. I found that you start with the Pro 668 off and unplugged from the computer. Start the RadioShack programming software. Hold the MENU key on the scanner while plugging in the USB cable. This will cause the scanner to go into its CPU update mode and allow the update to be downloaded and installed from the software. Good luck. (FYI the update helped with my radio's receptions. I; think it was the EDACS update; that helped)

I updated the CPU firmware on my 668 today and didn't have to do anything special except disconnect and reconnect the cable three times before it finally recognized the scanner. Firmware transferred to the radio successfully.
