To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The GE dealer I started my 2 way career at in 83 sold Maxon portables, you could squeeze them and watch them drift off frequency.
I'll be in N257 at 1015 and 258 at 1145 for sessions, then on the expo floor if anyone wants to meet up.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with that mobile.
There's a company that has bought the rights to the Nextel name and is selling what appear to be rebadged Chinese products with LMR and 4G radios in them as a "nation wide PTT network".
A lot of Chinese manufacturers there.

Not open to the public, as in you cannot just walk in the door. You have to register. Registering isn't hard. If you know the right people/vendors, you can get free registration for the expo floor only. Getting into all the training, presentations, conferences, etc. is all pay to play. I paid $1000.00 for the week, actually my employer paid that.

Here's the just released Bendix King BKR-9000, VHF, UHF and 7/800MHz.
Nice radio, the ergonomics were nice, felt better in the hand than the APX. Screen was good.
There's a mobile version coming. I got to see it, but was not permitted to take photos of it.

I didn't get to ask. What I wanted to know was if you could still do phone calls from it, in addition to push to talk use.
Considering what we've paid for MSAT terminals at work, they could probably get away with charing quite a bit for one, but that'll kill the intended audience.
I think the last Iridium phone I purchased was $1200 or more. I'd bet this radio will be $2,500 or up.

3. He know his stuff.
4. We've gotta meet up again next year where we can do some proper B.S.ing and have adult beverages.
5. Trying to figure out a way to get Lauri/Coyote to join us so we can get her to tell us some of her stories in person over above mentioned beverages (my treat).
