Anyone have any info on the new radio system used by JPD? I recall a news blurb a while ago about moving to a new system this fall, think it was a Moto system. If so will any of the Rat Shack scanners receive it?

Tnx

There is information posted on another board, I forgot the web address, but Larry Morin runs it. There is another one EastCoastScanning, but do not know that address either. I am sure they will post the replies with the proper links.

Now onto the system:
It is a UHF trunked system, APCO 25 3600 baud. This means it is a mixed system of analog and digital. So far I have heard EMS on TG 656 and Garbage Men on some other TG. PD has been using full encryption, but it is unknown on if they will leave dispatch in the clear or not. The RS PRO 96/2096 will handle the system (minus encryption), along with the Uniden 250/296, 785/896, & 396. You might hold off to check back if it will be full encryption or not, or else you will be spending $400 to listen to trash pickup.

The link crazyboy posted goes to my site. I've been running Trunker on the system 24/7 for a while and am staying on top of everything new. My site is the only one with the Custom Frequency Tables and talkgroups for the system.

Thanks

It appears that JPD cutover to the new system in the last week or two, hadn't noticed that the old analog scanners here had gotten quiet on their channels.

I work for a local shop who does offical towing for several towns here and we used the scanners to get a heads up when we would be getting a call to run.

Thanks for the info and links, I'll dig into this issue further.

On a side note, anyone catch the "Fairwell" if you want to call it. When the dispatchers or whomever said to switch to the new radios. Does such a practice take place? I was at college when Dover switched over, I remember riding home on the GSP ( I started to get Dover on the VHF about exit 58) and thought it was a quiet day in town...
