Drove a 5 mile radius around home and still hearing the tone. Something changed since this AM. Was picking up good traffic until then. VIPER is good. Not hearing it on other frequencies.
Maybe my butt/brain is generating the tone on all four JoCo P25 frequencies. [emoji38]
How about now? Just ran another call about an hour and a half ago. Used brush truck mobile plus my officer radio without issues.

I can hear traffic individually programmed as FM on the Pro96. (It can't trunk-track the system anyway CPU v1.4 needed).

The tone disappeared about 1700. I was listening to 851.4375 when it stopped. On my Pro96, I am hearing CC (manually tuned to frequency) on 851.4375 (652DC, T0505, SY00A, 80% - 99%)and 852.2000 (T0404, SY00A, 72% - 92%).

But, the 436 is dead silent. No DAT indication nor traffic.

Just to ensure it wasn't a carbon based issue, I downloaded the EXACT system from RR database through Sentinel and uploaded to the 436. It has the same symptoms. I can hear traffic on the individual frequencies on the 436.

My next attempt will include clearing user data and re-uploading my systems to the 436.

But, at least, I am hearing traffic, old school. Untrunked on the Pro96. All 49 RR database associated freq programmed into one bank. Most sound like JoCo traffic, but I am on an outdoor antenna now and some of the common freq may have other nearby traffic mixed in.

Thanks for checking back.

Pro96Com is reporting different freq for this system right now. None of them are showing in the first part of the database on the main JC P25 page.
Interestingly, I took the 436 outside and when I would get a couple of bars of signal strength, the LNK indication would light up. But, it wasn't consistent, lasting only a half a second to one second.
I will program the Pro96Com frequencies in and see what happens as far as tracking. Curious.

It is now tracking on the 436 with the following freq.

851.4375
852.3250
852.9375
853.7250

I have heard Smfd PD, FireComm, Sheriff Dispatch........:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Also noticed Pro96Com is reporting this as a Phase II system. Not sure if this config is permanent or there was an issue today and this is the backup or how that works.

It's always been a mixed phase 1/phase 2 system

Lessons learned. For some reason, my 436 would not make the transition and follow over to one of the the alternate CC's when the tone issue happened on 851.2250. Probably because the new setup had no freq. in common with the old, but I digress.

I am hearing the tone on 851.2250 right now, but it hasn't affected the 436 as far as receiving. (CC 851.4375). I have now programmed all 49 frequencies into the site so maybe it will keep chugging no matter what changes are made. Maybe I shouldn't have to, but it hasn't had an effect on anything that I can tell.

Thanks to W4ZWA for the feedback on the system still being in operation.

Later,
David

I believe that the Johnston County control channels have changed. Does anyone have the new frequencies?

jp4571 - Pro96com is now reporting the following configuration today as of 1550. This has changed a couple of times in the last few days. So this may be temporary, but something you can try.

851.2250 CA
851.7250 AV
852.2000 CV
852.7000 AV
853.2250 V
855.7125 AV (not part of the 49 original JC licensed old EDACS system freq. from my frustration Thursday, just a side note)

C=Control
A=Alternate
V=Voice
Or a combination of those (CAV) are channel assignments. Not needed for programming, specifically.
I have not noticed any talk group changes, but I am working this weekend so, it will be Monday before I get a chance to probe further. Sorry for the delay in response (body/mind/toes :) need sleep). I know it is frustrating when you don't know what is going on.

Looks like they have changed configurations again this am. The last entry I have in the overnight P96 log is 0701 this am.

Here is what 96Com is reporting as the config for today. Went from six (6) frequencies down to four (4) today.

851.4375 CA
852.3250 CV
852.9375 AV
853.7250 AV

They may still be testing. ????

Just a passing thought

Does anyone know if JC is planning to turn this new P25 system into a simulcast system like Wake has? We still have the towers from the EDACS system. If new equipment for the P25 system is put on the towers, could they be used to simulcast?

Or am I comparing pizza to a strawberry daiquiri?
Thanks
David

96Com reports 2 different active configurations on two different CC. Both are active and the traffic appears to be the same. But, that is subjective.
When I tune to 851.2250, it reports Site 004 and reporting Site 005 when I tune to 851.4375.
The three differences(highlighted) I see, are site #, frequencies and a few more adjacent sites on 005.

Site 004
851.2250 cv
851.7250 av
852.2000 cav
852.7000 av
853.2250 av

652DC, 00A, JCP25, Phase 2, 125 TGID Count, 834 Radio ID Group
Adjacent Sites - 857.7125, 851.2250

Site 005
851.4375 cav
852.3250 cv
852.9375 av
853.7250 av

652DC, 00A, JCP25,Phase 2, 125 TGID Count, 834 Radio ID Group
Adjacent Sites - 857.7125, 852.3250, 851.3000, 854.7375

Could they be operating two different frequency groups with the antennas pointed towards a different part of the county due to communication issues with just one antenna?
I seem to be picking up Site 004 better with the stubby antenna at home.
Working tonite and will see which one is stronger in the west.

If it helps the site locations never changed. Only hardware changed at those locations.

Setting Up a Multicast System like our tWo neighbors?

Per Pro96com there are five active towers on this system (303, 404, 505, 606, 707). Details for the three I can "hear" at home are attached.

I rode and verified with my Pro96 the other two active CC (606 & 707), but no details yet from Pro96com (did not carry my laptop).

Interestingly, Tower 505 doesn't show 606 nor 707 as "neighbors". The other two (303 and 404) do. Geographic or not finished setting up or a config omission or other reason?

Do we need independent confirmation for database update? How long is generally given on a new system like this one for things to settle down and become semi-permanent before updating the database?
