Would anyone be willing to suggest a quality hand-held scanner that I can use to scan Joliet (now and after the switch) and the other Will County communities?

Thank you.

Any of the Uniden or GRE/RS digital scanners will trunk them now and after Joliet changes over....However, STARCOM has a "Phase11 (using Phase1 now) that will be implemented some time in the future and the present digitals most likely will not work on it with the exception of the GRE/RS PSR800/PRO18 and they have not been tested on this upgraded system because there are none as yet upgraded to Phase11...Will Co can be heard and Joliet on most analog trunking scanners now.....

Is there a store that will set it up for you? I haven't messed around with scanners in probably 15 years.

The city counsel last nite OK'd the agreement with Motorola for a 4.8 mil system to be paid in ten years....Suppose to use just a one tower hook up=T113-Will Co and use there own freqys....Sounds like the cheapest way to go cause there broke and this could be a good thing!!...Time will tell, the next testing will come when the leaves are back on the tree's for poor area's of coverage....Foliage is a killer of 800mgz....
