Whats the 600mhz frequency's used for? And why are there no scanners that cover it?

Television.

There are a few receivers that cover the range, but nothing there to listen to, except (perhaps) a few low power wireless microphones.

Digital TV audio isn't receivable by a scanner, so no use really having that range.

No.
500 MHz is in the lower UHF TV band that has been reassigned to Land Mobile in the major cities.

I was curious once, then I decided against it!

The 500 MHz bandis pretty much limited to, and correct me if I'm wrong, 500-512 MHz.

TV channels

Interestingly enough some UHF TV channels are shared with other services and that's in the 500-512 MHz portion. 500-506 MHz is TV channel 19 and 506-512 MHz is TV channel 20.

512 MHz to 602 MHz are TV channels 21 to 35. 602 MHz to 698 MHz TV channels 36 to 51. Former USA over-the-air TV channels 52 to 83 are no longer in use. Channels 52 to 69 were given up with the switch to digital (and created the 700 MHz band) and channels 70 to 83 were given up many years ago and created the 800 MHz & (some of) the 900 MHz bands.
