Just got a scanner

Hello, I just bought this scanner at radioshack

RadioShack® 200-Channel VHF/AIR/WX/UHF Handheld Scanner - RadioShack.com

It says that it should be programmed from using an application on the computer... How do I do that? I am from Genesee County NY I am interested in the Fire/EMS channels like 1C, 1D, 1E etc. There arnt any frequencies about those on this page for that, does anyone know what they are? Thanks!

You have the wrong scanner for monitoring what you want. You need a trunking scanner like the RS Pro164 or Pro107 or a GRE or Uniden scanner that also does trunking. typical price point $200.

Oh ok, what is trunking? I am new to scanners. Is that so I could program it? Do you know if this scanner would work?
