Hi everyone,

So I just got back into my Pro-106 got it all updated and uploaded what I wanted with Win500.

So I'm trying to monitor some areas in King County, Washington

Renton and Tukwila

Seattle

Bellevue and Newcastle

So I see it scanning and I have led colors assigned to areas, and while scanning I see it grab a signal and led light comes on, but I get no audio at all. Sometimes I'll get a lock with tons of white noise and I can barely make out a voice but it's pretty rare.

According to Win500 all these areas are Moto 800/900. I have the 800mhz duck antenna on the radio.

Have I missed a crucial step somewhere? Or is my radio possibly malfunctioning and/or just not up to snuff?

Thanks all.

Following the steps as indicated in the link of the prior thread, you should be able to solve your problem. The King County system was rebanded. Once you take those steps indicated you will be able to hear the conversations.

As a side note, please keep in mind that the King County system is a "Smartzone" system. That means not every talk group and conversation is carried on all sites. It depends on what zones subscribers are affiliated into (so as to prevent overload on the sites). As an example, to hear Seattle PD and FD, it would be best for you to have the Seattle Simulcast site active. While PD can be heard on the main three sites (Seattle, EPSCA, and Valleycom), you will most likely not hear the FD. You will be able to fully monitor Renton, Tukwila, Newcastle, and Bellevue from the Valleycom site.

Another hint - don't program in the "IR" (or intellipeater) sites. These are just local coverage fill-in sites due to the terrain. You won't hear much on them as only very local subscribers/users will be affiliated into them. They will just slow down your scanner.

So in review, enter the reband tables, program in the Seattle and Valleycom sites, and the talk groups you want to monitor. You'll be good to go.

Have fun!
