Kankakee County change to starcom21

Units (FD)calling KanCom today - Bourbannais on TG 34916, Grant Park on 34917. Other units were heard via discovery mode but were using county identifier numbers, not towns.

I have just finished programming my new sds100. Big difference in reception between my 996p2 and the sds100. The ads is like the old system was with great reception. I tried using sentinel but opted for ARC636 plus. I'm familiar with that software and it was much easier for me. The 996 sounds muffled on the new digital system.

FD traffic (and others) heard on following talkgroups on STARCOM21 via DIscovery Search (BCD536HP) this weekend. Need more verification and help please:
34916 - Boubannais
34917 - Grant Park and Manteno
35950 - Peotone (however addressing Wescom)
30330 - Testing divisions 49-69. Assume MABAS Dispatch
33846 - State or County Hwy
34937 - Sounds like Animal Control
34923 - Testing Ops
34932 - Pembroke Township
34935 - Jail 1

"34917 - Grant Park and Manteno", this is wrong. It's Fire A. The only departments that have their own dispatch channels are Kankakee, Bradley and Bourbonnais.

Thank you for the intel. Would appreciate all the info you can provide if affiliated with a K3 dept. I'm doing it the hard way. Today's findings are:
34916 - Bourbonnais FD (sp) confirmed
34921 - Unknown Ops (FD). Units (thought they said Dwight) water rescue training
34922 - Ops 2 FD (units addressing Ops 2 for training)
34936 - Radio tests
34939 - Confirm Public Works (calling KanCom)
34973 - Robert units going to Riverside Hosp. (not sure if directly affiliated/dispatched with Riverside Hosp)

I've been adding TGs to the database from this thread however I've been entering them all as Phase I (D). If you know talkgroups to be exclusively Phase II (T), let us know or submit a database submission and we'll get those fixed.

Running discovery search with a 536, how would I/we know the difference?

Instead of showing "dat" in the readout when a talk group is active it shows "pto" or "pt1" as Phase II

For Sentinel, download current database, click USA/Illinois/Kank Co/Statewide/StarCom21/Kank Co. Select what to append to fav lists. What's published is all that's available as of now since the change.

Thank you for the information. Just received my SDS 100. I am getting the channels I want via discovery trunk search. Is there a way to save the hits to a favorites list? Thank you for any help.

I don't believe so but NOT 100% sure. I'm doing that same search with a 536. Much less info on the screen than my 200. We've made some progress in the last 2 weeks with TG's added to the database. Actual TGID's may not be accurate at this time but it's a baseline to start with. Corrections occur over time with listener verification and submissions. I'd wait until Monday to get the latest database update from RR to Sentinel then try to create your favorites list. Remember when you create a FL, you must edit your profile to "monitor and download" selected ON. It's a common mistake but easily rectified. (for me it"s called the "dumbass button" because I often forget that simple step)

I've updated the latest database and programmed the updates however have yet to hear tone outs for Grant Park, Pembroke, Manteno, etc... Any chance they're using a conventional frequency for paging? If so please share.

They should still be using the 154.325 frequency for pages. I don't know if there were plans to simulcast the pages on the Starcom system

Correct. It’s still the conventional frequency

I just updated the Wiki to include Kankakee Co. I was able to get an RID from Manteno ambulance and some from KANCOMM dispatch consoles. Any more info is appreciated.

With Kankakee County's switch to starcomm does anyone know if the KanCom - Kankakee City/County Public Safety system is still active? It is marked as deprecated but listed as it is in use by a local agency.

I posted a message over in the Starcom21 2020 thread and the response was that the Motorola system is off air:

I thought I removed all the references in the subcategories but I'll go back and remove any that remain.
