I just confirmed with an Oswego fire official they are testing the Fire 3 channel and have it patched to fire 1. For now it will be encrypted
Police channel upgrades expected to be completed end of Q1 2024 per latest meeting notes.
If it's for Fire 3 then they still have it patched to channel 1 for testing purposes
Fire 3 is back in the clear with encryption turned off and is still patched to Fire 1. Latest meeting notes stated ABeep is 80% completed on upgrading the current system to be able to handle police 1 and 3 digitalization with encryption capable switches like fire 3
Wait...so Police 1/3 won't be 100% ENC after all?
Well it depends meeting notes haven't been saying fully encrypted just switching to digital but they will be able to encrypt with a switch and if they want to keep that on 100% of the time they can
KenCom to complete the radio project by the end of the summer with full support for encryption on the police channels.
Most of there audio now is so low they already have partial ENC unless my hearing is going,....
KenCom is looking to encrypt fire next. Smaller agencys may prevent that if they don't want to replace there mobiles

Who knows They rely heavily on Mutual aid so it's kind of pointless it's the same boat as NWCD "first responder safety"
The fire agencies have reached a set date of June 2027 to be fully encrypted
When I see police activity in my area I call the dispatch and ask what is going on? They will usually tell you what they are doing.
It's a sad world we live in but the bad guys have scanners too.
