Just Curious
"I hate that they refer to anything other than the H1 as a “Hummer”. Everything else is just a GM pickup chassis and has nothing to do with an actual Hummer or HUMVEE.

I ran across this thread, and the quoted post above in particular, and have always been curious as to why this is put in context as a bad thing, and not ever referred as a very intelligible move on the automakers part. You take a already mass produced bunch of parts and components and use those creatively in as many products as you can, smart! And to the end consumer, this is great, we pay less as less R&D dollars go to the new product, in this case the H3, awesome imo!
There are numerous succesfull examples of this everywhere you look these days, some go unnoticed regularly, but look at another big one, Apple, they now use Intel chips instead of paying to continually upgrade the RISC based processor's. Exact same concept GM uses with the "pseudo-hummers".
Lastly, what's so bad about the hummer "Knock Offs", actually I don't care much for the way H2's look, love H3's, none the less, just about every other SUV type vehicle has an androgynous look, ie they have no muscle to them imo, or not much. There is certainly a clear exception in the Jeep! But the numbers of unique looking vehicles in Hummers category are few, it's nice to have options.
Thanks!
