Does anyone know if they went to open sky?

It appears that both fire and law enforcement are totally encrypted on the MPSCS P25 system. Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies (radioreference.com) Scroll down to Lapeer County. In the Mode column, DE means full time encryption. No scanner can receive encrypted transmissions.

you can recieve Fire on 151.130 home units that is the patch .but on MPSCS its all Encrypted

Does anyone know if they went to open sky?

OpenSky is a dying standard. There were not many users, and most of then have moved onto newer/better systems. AFAIK, Oakland County was the only user in MI, and they are in the process of moving onto MPSCS.

I'm not surprised Lapeer County Sheriff encrypted their communications. He didn't even think citizens had the right to own scanner radios.

Online scanning and facebook page LPO that reported everything were driving factors. Too many that would show up at a scene and get in the way.
