I have a Pro-96 that I bought several years ago as a parts radio for my other Pro-96. It works fine, except for the ribbon cable that attaches the LCD panel to the connector on the circuit board. The cable is torn. I will check with G&G, but I think they don't have parts for these anymore. Does anyone know of a source or if any other similar RS scanner uses the same cable and display (Pro-97,maybe?)? I'd like to repair it as a gift for a retired LAPD Lt friend of mine. Thanks.

Not sure the validity of this statement, but surely worth the research. If the screens are the same, chances are the ribbon cable may be also.

And there is a parts 95 on fleabay here

Thanks Dave. I've read that too. If you check the video someone posted to the Pro-95 Audio thread, you'll see the inside of the 95 looks very close to the 96's boards, so I hope the parts are interchangeable. I snagged a "for parts-only" Pro-95 on Ebay a few days ago for $10.00 (Shipping was twice that amount!). I also need the battery door for my project, and I hope that is also the same. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll post on how it goes. I also heard back from Gerry at G&G and he no longer had the LCDs available. In fact, he needs a source for three Pro-96s that he has.

Cant control a pro 96 or 2096 from software. Arc96 doesn't have that option - I have Arc96.

I would suggest trying tp PM minasha about the cable.
Exactly right. Win 96 or ARC 96 do not control the radio. Even if it did, that would make it not portable. This is a reclamation project for a buddy of mine, so no biggie if we can't repair it. I think the LCD from a Pro-95 will work. I'll let you guys know.
