All of the 65*** are patch groups used to patch channels together from outside or within the system, you can disregard. those, they are not the true talk group for a given channel.

Understood, what confused me for example is TG:65495 had tone out for South Hays Fire while TG:5634 (SHays FD/EMS) was not active until after the tone out. Patches just seem confusing for this novice, Unitrunker has a tab for patches but I haven't seen anything descriptive and OP25 (what I'm currently using) is pretty bare bones. Thanks for the info though!

For the talkgroup about snipers and Hostages, I'm pretty sure this belongs to ACC Austin Community College. they have been doing exercises this week.

Would ACC be patched to the LCRA P25 system? I know they do have a campus in Kyle if I remember, so I guess Hays County SWAT would be the responding team for that campus.

Texas State University also hosts ALERRT which is a law enforcement training program. They are especially active when campuses are closed and they can do practical training in large buildings.

I have been getting San Marcos PD, Hays Fire, Hays SO and more from the 55/56 range quite regularly on the Bergheim tower. Can anyone closer to the Hays County towers see if they are still just patching or if some of the users may have actually migrated off of OpenSky?

What I was told awhile back from someone that use to work for LCRA was that a user with an affiliated radio on the system has to be on the P25 side channel for Opensky channels to show up on the P25 system( unless a dispatcher creates a patch for interop purposes.) Hence the randomness of when talk groups show up. I also have seen at least on some of Hays and San Marcos fire channels P25 radio ID's pretty regularly. So some of the FD units are staying on the P25 side.

Does anyone have any ideas about how San Marcos/Hays County fire and ems is set up? I have been trying to wrap my head around why the same talk groups appear to be dispatching everyone. My guess, although this is unconfirmed, is that there are several station alert talkgroups, there is a shared channel for departments to communicate with dispatch and then departments have individual operations channels.
I feel like some of the talkgroups on RR main page might also be mislabeled, but I may not understand the method to the madness.

65xxx talkgroups are also used for console multi-selects. I'd hazard a guess that the different departments or stations all have individual talkgroups for station alerting, and when a call is dispatched the dispatcher selects those talkgroups along with primary dispatch to tone/voice the call. That's fairly common on both EDACS and Harris P25 systems. The process can also be automated with a CAD interface, or the multi-selects can be pre-built on the console so the dispatcher only has to click a single button. To a system radio it's completely transparent, but a scanner isn't "smart" enough to recognize that a SAID (system assigned ID) is the "same" talkgroup as primary dispatch.
