what type of CAD dispatch are they using for FD and EMS calls.. seems everyone but scherzt and cibolo you hear the tones for 1.5 seconds then its silent followed by the dept. going enroute a couple minutes later.. now if it is a EMS call normally you can use the safes locution system to glean info about a call. Just curious if they are simulcasting the run data on VHF or if anyone had better details

Schertz Fire and EMS are called out on tg 12095. A tone and then a computerized lady voice will give the call. The calls go out over the station PA and handheld radios.

Their EMS 1 channel is patched to 156.015 still for interop with vhf agencies in their response areas. When Live Oak or UC dispatch FD and EMS tones will go out over the EMS 1 channel then you will here the same call over the auto dispatcher channel. And as Don said their calls within the city and county only go out over the auto dispatcher.

I guess I didn't express what I meant correctly. What I am asking about are the other cities Converse, UC, Selma and Live oak. When they are dispatched for a call such as a dumpster fire. You hear a short tone on the uhf system and then nothing as in no run info. I am wondering if they moved to a silent cad dispatch after alerting. Or if anyone has monitored run info verbally delivered on the old vhf channels. I know Schertz/Cibolo are still tie to their channel I can pick from here in St Hedwig, but I am unable to hear anything on the old deprecated channels for the cities listed above. Might be because of my distance from them.

After Converse, UC and Selma moved to the LCRA P25 system they shut down the VHF sites. Live Oak FD Dispatch tg of 12041 can still be heard on 154.1750.

When Schertz EMS goes to UC Selma and Live Oak they talk to the FDs on there own dispatch tgs. They don't use Schertz EMS 1 tg 12098. When Schertz EMS goes on a county call they use tg 12098.

Speaking of local VHF, does anybody remember the old Selma PD-2 T/A Back CH ? Was it 154.7400 PL=167.9 or 74.4 ?
Hearing traffic on 154.7400 I thought at first it was Selma PD officers working off duty security on their old VHF handhelds, etc.
But it actually turns out to be 154.74000 KUE510 RM 167.9 PL Bee Co SO Bee Co. Sheriff Dispatch FMN Law Dispatch.
Pretty good to receive an agency that is several counties away. Most think BCSO stands for Bexar Co SO not Bee Co SO ;)

I only listen to the trunk systems. I will try to see if I can hear anything.

When the conditions are right, usually in the early morning the bands open up and you can get agencies pretty far away. I have heard Border Patrol from multiple counties away before just randomly scanning the VHF band.

I use to do a lot of band scanning back before the area went to a trunk system. I don't do band scanning as much as I use to. I might scan the air bands every once in awile.

Law 1 which is 154.950 and is patched to the LCRA system. Law 1 got renamed to TXCALL 1 awhile back but some rural agencies still call it Law 1. Last I heard DPS Helos don't have the LCRA P25 system programmed into their radios yet so they have to be patched from VHF.

Thanks for the replys, DPS canceled due to weather. I never heard the DPS side, a DPS trooper was with a sisterdale FF and it was relayed to KC dispatch.

I downloaded the Statewide DPS Apco-25 system, see what I get in the future.

The scene is winding down.

Program in the Common/Shared frequencies also. Mainly the VCall and VTac channels and the 8Call and 8Tac. As well as the VFire channels and the VMED28 channel 155.340 (AirLife likes to use this channel for LZ coordination nowadays.) Mutual Aid channels are used a lot more these days.

P25

Anyone listening to the p25 sites the past few days heard the poor audio quality?? I have heard it on the Live Oak, Kendall and Boerne sites. I am using a Uniden 396xt. I have optimized the P25 performance and have seen really high error rates. I was watching it today and it went from 2 to 78 and the audio got very broken.

Not sure if it's my scanner or the sites.

If is not the correct place for the post please let me know and I will move it.

Been working fine for me. I live maybe a couple miles from the Live Oak site and seems normal quality even when traveling around the area.
