Have a mircroadsb on the way, hoping to get some coverage set up for the central Texas area. Is it possible to share data with more than one of the networks?

Well yes! You just have to run more than one program specified for that website, but it will increase your bandwidth usage.

If you have anything better than 500Mbs upload, you shouldn't notice a difference at all. Don't worry about bandwidth though, it shouldn't be a factor unless you are using dial-up :)

500 megabits /s ? I'm more around .5 megabits /s upload.

Sorry there! I just realized that... thanks for your correction!

Yes, anything a half or megabit or better upload will work perfect if your running a few different uploaders, and you probably won't even notice a change.

So do we need to restart this as "lets build the planeplotter MLAT network across the US"?

I agree completely. It's nice to see Colorado is built out... It wouldn't take much fill in the rest of Utah / Nevada and Arizona... considering there are stations in las vegas, Pheonix, LA... we just need to find people in-between... therein lies the problem. We need towns like Cedar City, UT, Reno NV, Bakersfield Ca and the like.

edited.. also need Tonopah Nv, Palm Springs Ca, and Yuma Az, ... those 6 locations in addition to what already exists would probably cover all of Ut, most of Ca and Az and Nv... come to think of it 2 more stations at Tucson and Albuquerque would most likely cover all of AZ above FL230. So add 8 stations and we would multiply our MLAT ability by.... 4 states... pretty good.

My ID in planeplotter is iX, feeding from Northern Illinois
Are you planning on sharing 24/7 or whenever your computer is on? I do not see your ID at the moment, so I am presuming the latter. The time now is 0511 UTC. Still, even if not running 24/7 your feed helps when you are sharing.

I am "eD" in the Tucson area. I run an SBS-3 24/7. There are also four dongles operating in the Tucson area, not always 24/7, but pretty close.

I agree that Yuma would be real nice to have. But it would really only fill the hole from CA. There is not much activity over the Barry M Goldwater Range.

I can tell you that when my SBS-3 is off line, I know it. I watch PP from my work location and can tell when there is an issue. I have excellent "visibility" in this area, seeing down into Mexico and up to Phoenix and Flagstaff, as well as south western NM.

Deming, NM would be another good place for a radio.

You should be using DUMP1090 to feed the Planeplotter network. The requirement was imposed a couple of months ago.

Just installed my system total investment was around $40.00 by re-using a old scanner antenna I had. I am using planeplotter and VRS check it out prradar.ddns.net:100/virtualradar coverage for Puerto Rico and adjacent waters.

P.d In the next couple of days I will be installing a new antenna in a mast even higher so coverage will improve. along with ACARS decoding all using little SDR's dongles.

Your potential for coverage will help that area quite a bit. Some additional height may help clear your antenna of nearby obstructions. What kind of range are you getting? If you're getting around 300km now, I would not worry about improvements to your system. If you're getting aircraft just West of Anguilla across to the Eastern part of the Dominican Republic, your system is working well, as that's about the maximum range when planes are around 10km in the air. I am not sure how much traffic/flight path is over your area at that altitude though. My guess is you may have more lower flying aircraft going from island to island, so the range would be considerably less. Rather than my guessing, please share your experience after you have had a chance to review your results.

Hi,

I am getting around 200 planes a day mostly to the NW (Direction of the Airport) 100 - 150nm out. I have some obstructions to the East towards the island and west into the Arrival Path, when I increase the antenna this weekend I should avoid some obstacles and let you now. So far after 10PM or so i do get a lot of flights from south america to Europe during the day lot of local traffic to and from SJU. Still not too much inter island traffic.
